Comparison of Frequency Converter Outages: A Case Study on the Swedish TPS System

The purpose of this paper is unavailability of the two main types of conve Swedish traction power supply (TPS) system, i.e. static converter. The number of outages and the ou used to analyze and compare the unavailability o converters. The mean cumulative function (MCF) analyze the number of outages and the unavailab the forced outage rate (FOR) concept has been u outage rates. The study shows that the outages failure occur at a constant rate by calendar tim converter stations, while very few stations have decreasing rate. It has also been found that the stat a higher number of outages and a higher outage rat compared to the rotary converter types. The results that combining the number of outages and the f gives a better view of the converters’ performa support for the maintenance decision. In fact, using does not reflect reality. Comparing these two inde in identifying the areas where extra resources are maintenance planning and where improvements outage in the TPS system.
